BMW has released new details about the Z4 GT3.
Designed for private racing teams, the GT3 features aggressive styling, advanced engineering, and a 1,200 kilogram (2,645 pound) curb weight. The latter is due in part to the numerous components (front and rear wings, bonnet, roof, and fenders) constructed from carbon fiber reinforced plastic.
Power comes from a 4.0-liter V8 with more than 480 PS (353 kW / 473 bhp). It is backed up by the ECU408 engine management system and a six-speed sequential transmission with a "Quick Shift" function.
Other goodies include a racing anti-lock braking system, a new front axle (with a tubular stabilizer bar and adjustable blades), a roll cage, and "rims with central locking and safety clips."
According to BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen, "The feedback on the BMW Z4 GT3 is extremely positive. This sports car rounds off our product range, and offers drivers and teams the opportunity to compete in championships in accordance with the GT3 regulations - such as the FIA GT3 European Championship, the International GT Open or the ADAC GT Masters - as well as at 24-hour endurance races."
If this has sparked your dreams of racing glory, be prepared to shell out €298,000 ($402,488 USD).
