BRABUS B63 S Tuning for Mercedes E 63 AMG

Posted by Mr Dung Sunday, November 29, 2009

BRABUS will exhibit the Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG-based BRABUS B63 S at the 2009 Essen Motor Show. The famous tuner kept the 6.3-litre (6208cc) V8 natural, meaning no superchargers or turbos are installed. Using its so-called BRABUS B63 S kit power and torque were improved from the standard 386kW (525hp) and 630Nm to 408kW (555hp) and 650Nm respectively. The magic was achieved through two sport air filters, free-flow metal catalysts and newly programmed engine electronics.

As a result the 0 - 100km/h sprint is reduced to 4.3 seconds and top speed goes up to 320km/h. A limited slip differential (LSD) with a locking rate of 40 percent ensures optimal grip at all times.

The aerodynamic package was developed in a wind tunnel and includes a carbon fibre front spoiler lip, a rear diffuser and a rear spoiler. The front fenders have lateral air outlets which don't just glamourise the car's looks but serve to improve venting. Custom-tailored wheel and tyre combinations include 18, 19 and 20-inch sizes shod with Pirelli or Yokohama high-performance tyres sized 245/30 ZR 20 up front and up to 295/25 ZR 20 at the rear.

Interior equipment choices include durable BRABUS Mastik leather and Alcantara, carbon fibre inlays, wood and many electronic gadgets to suit different desires.

With 530 ponies under the hood, or rather the rear axle, we imagine that few Porsche 911 GT2 owners will ever complain about lack of power. Still, horsepower-junkies can get their fix with Wimmer RS's latest tuning project amply named "GT2 Speed Bi-Turbo" which boasts a whopping 827HP and a top speed of 378km/h or 235mph.

Wimmer RS supports that the GT2 Speed Bi-Turbo sprints from standstill to 100km/h (62mph) in just 3.38 seconds and to 300km/h (187 mph) in 20.2 seconds, while maxing out at 378km/h (235mph).

The car also gets a set of 20-inch Sportec alloy rims wrapped in 235/30 R20 high-performance Dunlop tires up front and 325/25 R20 at the rear, along with H&R sport springs and carbon fiber exterior mirrors and a rear spoiler lip.

Since 2005, the Association of German Car Tuners (VDAT) in cooperation with the German Police and the country's Federal Ministry for Transport have created the "Tune It! Safe" program to encourage drivers to adopt safe and legal tuning practices. As part of the promotion, the past four years a vehicle is converted into a police car and is exhibited at the annual Essen Motor Show in Germany (Nov. 28 - Dec. 06). For this year's show, VDAT chose a BMW 123d Coupe that has been extensively modified by AC Schnitzer.

The BMW tuning specialist bumped the twin-turbocharged 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine's output to 241HP and 480Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque. With power being sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission, the AC Schnitzer-prepped 123d Coupe accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) in 6.7 seconds.

Other hardware modifications include a sport suspension that drops the ride height by 30mm, new alloy wheels wrapped in Hankook tires and a sport exhaust system.

On the outside, the 123d gets the full police treatment with original stickers and Hella flashing lights while AC Schnitzer also added an aero kit that comprises of a two-piece front spoiler, rear skirt insert, rear wing and rear roof spoiler.

The coupe's interior has been upgraded with leather bucket seats, genuine carbon fibre trim on the dashboard, centre console, door handles and steering wheel, complemented by the aluminium pedals and foot rests.
