In this case, an unnamed Swiss millionaire was handed down with what is said to be a world record breaking fine of $290,000 or €203,000 for going 137km/h (85mph) in an 80km/h (50mph) speed zone in a Ferrari Testarossa.
The judges at the cantonal court in St. Gallen, in eastern Switzerland, are said to have taken into account the driver's history of similar speeding offenses, the high speed with which he drove through a small village and his estimated wealth of over $20 million.
According to reports from the Swiss media, the fine is more than double the country's previous record of around $107,000 for a Porsche driver.
