A new marketing campaign for the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG has been released. The release coincides with the beginning of production of the hand-built sports car.
Asking the question, "Is it still a car?" the promotion includes traditional and non-traditional media. Ads will appear in newspapers and magazines, while Mercedes F1 driver and seven-time F1 champion Michael Schumacher will be featured in television spots.
Continuing where Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin left off, the car will continue to be seen online. The company will be releasing three issues of an online magazine featuring the gullwing. Aside from appearances on its own blog and Facebook pages, the company will release a new iPhone application for the car.
Called "SLS AMG," iPhone customers will be able to get the virtual driving application beginning in February. However, this experience will probably pale in comparison to use of the car in Gran Turismo 5.
European market launch of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG will begin at the end of March.
