Chevy to Offer 500 Examples of 2010 Camaro Indy 500 Pace Car Replica
[Scoop]
For the fourth time in the history of the Camaro, GM will sell a replica of a Camaro Indianapolis 500 Pace Car. The last time Chevy offered a replica of the pace car was in 1993. Fittingly, Chevrolet plans to build a total of 500 units with up to 200 of those to be made available through 187 of the top-selling Camaro dealers based on 2009 retail sales.
"We set out to build a collectible vehicle that will appeal to the die-hard Camaro and Indianapolis 500 fan," said Jim Campbell, U.S. Vice President, Chevrolet Marketing. "We believe we've done just that with the 2010 Chevy Camaro Indianapolis 500 Pace Car Limited Edition."
The limited production replica is based on the Camaro 2SS model with the RS appearance package and a 400HP V8 paired to a six-speed automatic transmission, but adds some extra features unique to the actual pace car to be driven by Robin Roberts, anchor of "Good Morning America," during the this year's Indianapolis 500.
Available exclusively in 'Inferno Orange' with full body white pearl decal rally stripes, the replica comes with 20-inch polished aluminum wheels, an Inferno Orange heritage front grille and engine cover, special floor mats with accent colors and 2010 Indianapolis 500 event logos on the front fenders, the door panels and embroidered on driver and passenger headrests.
According to GM, the manufacturer suggested retail price of the Camaro pace car replica is $41,950 (includes $850 Destination Freight Charge).
Check out the gallery below for the list of dealers that will have allocation for the replica.

Call it down right honesty, call it stupid, you know, call it whatever, but the owner of this 2000 model year Audi TT Coupe, which is up for sale on eBay, had no problem at all replacing Ingolstadt's four-ring logos with the VW badge. He even went as far as adding a couple of VW emblems on the seats.
"I just added Volkswagen logos around to make it look different, since they are the same company," said the eBay with a sincerity that could do with a good a dose of self-irony. More pics for your enjoyment after the jump.

The latest company to join the list of tuners interested in creating a Trans Am replica is a company called Gearhead Performance Group.
Along with the cosmetic upgrades that include new front and rear fascias complete with unique lights, 21- or 22-inch snowflake wheels, a large rear spoiler and gold interior accents (...), the tuner claims that it will offer an optional twin-turbo LS9 V8 with some 900 horsepower.
We find it hard to believe that any of you will actually be interested in the Porsche, but just in case, the car is for sale on Craigslist in Portland for a mere $12,995.
Chinese Hybrid Sports Car Mixes Audi R8 and Ferrari Styling Traits
The Tong Jian S11 is said to be a hybrid sports car that presumably combines electric motors with an internal combustion engine. There are no specific details on the car's mechanics nor if it is scheduled to enter production at some point. Via: Leblogauto & Autoblog.comIt has come to the point where this blatant copying of Western car designs from Chinese auto manufacturers is getting totally ridiculous. The Tong Jian S11 that was reportedly revealed at the Shanghai Motor Show earlier this year but somehow escaped our radars, borrows several styling cues from a number of vehicles including the Audi R8-esque profile and the Ferrari-inspired tail design.
An updated replica of the classic Lotus 7 has hit the South African market, and may become available for export to Australia, Japan, and the United Kingdom. Inspired by Lotus founder Colin Chapman's original design, twenty units of the Millennium 7 have already been completed, or are in assembly.
The car is the brainchild of aeronautical engineer Chris Carstens, who created the car to fulfill a friend's request for an uncommon sports car. The friend, Kobus van der Walt, has worked with Carstens on the project for the last six years. The duo have been advised by former Honda F1 chief mechanic Alastair Gibson.
Although the standard offering will be a 2.0-liter Ford Duratec engine with Ford Type 9 gearbox, Millennium 7 designers claim that a variety of engines fit without hassle. They claim that Ford and Toyota machines are the most common choices, but they have even kitted the car out with a turbocharged version of the 1.3-liter Renesis rotary engine seen on the Mazda RX-8. They also say that, although the car uses the BMW E30 3-Series rear differential and drive shafts, that many different gearboxes can be used.
With a four-cylinder Toyota engine, the vehicle's weight is estimated at 700kg (1543lbs). Weight is kept low thanks to the space frame, aluminum skin panels, and fiberglass body. Despite the low weight, the engineers were able to design a car with a bigger cockpit than the Lotus 7.
Disc brakes also come from the BMW 3er, but four-piston calipers may also be available. Also available is the unique windscreen, which is installed at a 55-degree rake.
The vehicle itself will be more readily available as a DIY kit, than a complete car. This kit would include "the frame, alloy double skin panelling, bodywork, front and rear suspension, fuel tank, brakes, brake tubing, pedal box and master cylinders, steering system and a basic wiring harness," according to a press release.
Without the differential, drive shafts, engine, gearbox, instruments, radiator, steering wheel, tires, or wheels, the Millennium 7 will cost 150,000 Rand, or about €13,500.
Needless to say, this Japanese domestic market Honda Odyssey isn't your typical soccer-mom's minivan. Besides the insane negative camber all around and the fact that in parking position, the Odyssey sits only about an inch or two away from the road, what makes this custom creation stand out from the crowd is that the designer managed to incorporate the front-end of an E92 BMW 3-Series Coupe. Oddly enough, the bimmer nose seems to work nice... More photos after the jump.

VIDEO:Kazakhstani Transforms Mercedes E-Class W124 into Rolls Royce Phantom
Via: Autogespot
Adding to our long list of Rolls Royce Phantom wannabes from all over the world (bad taste has no ethnic boundaries...) is this creation that's said to come from Kazakhstan. A fitting (luxury) proposal for Sacha Baron Cohen's fictional character Borat, the Phantom appears to be based on the late 1980s - early 1990s, W124 Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Watch the video after the break.
In what could be one of the weirdest project cars we've ever shown you on Carscoop, this here is a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS that has been modified to resemble GM's 2006 Camaro Concept which previewed the 2010 production car. Ironically, the styling of both the concept and production versions of the new Camaros are heavily based on the 1969 model... More photos and the creator's description of the car after the jump.
Danz Custom Description of the Camaro:
"This is a 1969 Danz Camaro SS concept car. I built the car in 2006. In 2006 the new Camaro was just a concept with no definite plans to go to production. I took a real 1969 Camaro and modified it to look somewhat like the 2006 concept Camaro.
Thinking that I would have the only one in the world if the Camaro never went to production. I combined the original 69 Camaro design with the 2006 concept Camaro design, with my own designs. Especially the hood scoop and rear spoiler design are my own. I gave GM pictures of my car in Jan 2007.
It appears that the 2010 SLP Camaro has a simular designed hood scoop and rear spoiler to my car. To power my car I went with a 427 small block with the vintage dual 4-barrel crossram manifold and carbs. I went in that direction because I wanted the legendary 427 cubic inch and also to use the vintage dual 4-barrel crossram. Backed with a 700 r transmission to a Ford 9" differential.
